First week of practice under my belt

Hi all,

Well, I'm back at it in my job as a professional golfer for a few weeks. If you followed my previous blog from my Hawaii tournament you know I was there with limited practice and the resultant increased stress from a rusty golf game. Since returning home from Hawaii I made a quick trip to Milwaukee, WI to see my long time swing coach and mentor, Manuel de la Torre. After about a 2 1/2 hour lesson I left Milwaukee with an even better understanding of how to refine my golf swing, and a renewed enthusiasm to get back at it. Unfortunately, the hours of hitting balls was a little much for my "not used to that" body and for the next 5 days a sore back limited me from much of anything golf-wise. I was able to use that down time though as I traveled to Jekyll Island, GA to check out the golf course my men's team will compete on for Spring Break, and to check out a couple amazing houses we'll be using for lodging for the teams and coaches while there...our own pool in a beachside house...will that be a vacation or a working trip- hmmm maybe a little of both!

I arrived in FL last Tue.(zipped up to Jekyll Island Wed.) and have been working very hard on my game this past week. The "new" swing thoughts I discovered with Manuel have been exciting to implement, but taking lots of thought and work to groove in time for competition in a couple weeks. Fortunately the weather has cooperated with perfect conditions so I've been at it hard, about 7-8 hours/day, and gradually it's all coming together. The weather has also cooperated today with rainy conditions, as it's a good time for me to take a break...I have a tendency to push and push myself and I want to be ready but not exhausted when tournament time rolls around Nov. 21-22.
